About PNG compression
PNG is lossless, so the only ways to shrink it are fewer pixels or a different format. Choose PNG output to keep the format (dimensions may shrink), or Automatic to allow WebP.
Screenshots with flat colours often shrink a lot; photos saved as PNG shrink most when converted to JPG or WebP.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so to reach smaller sizes Fylix may convert it to WebP (keeping transparency) unless you choose PNG as the output format.
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions. Compressing reduces the file size by encoding the image more efficiently. Fylix compresses first and only reduces dimensions when a target can't be reached otherwise.
